Lim Joo Toon

Lim Joo Toon is a former District Judge, Subordinate Courts (now known as State Courts) and formerly Senior Assistant Registrar, Supreme Court. He was also formerly State Counsel, Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Joo Toon graduated from the National University of Singapore with LLB (Hons). He was awarded the prestigious Legal Service Overseas Merit scholarship and obtained Masters in Law from University College London (UCL), specialising in commercial and corporate law (with a Mark of Merit).

Arbitration and Mediation

 

An accredited Arbitrator with substantial experience both as arbitrator and as counsel. He is on the Panel of Arbitrators under the Law Society Arbitration Scheme (LSAS), has served as an Arbitrator on the Regional Panel of Arbitrators, Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), and is admitted as a Fellow at the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. He is a trained mediator of LEADR (Lawyers Engaged in Dispute Resolution) Australia.

Experience

 

A broad range of dispute resolution experience in all areas of law and at every level of the court system, from the State Courts to the Court of Appeal. He served on a committee of the Law Society, and held academic teaching positions with the National University of Singapore, Singapore Institute of Management and the Board of Legal Education.

Michael Lukamto

Michael is an Associate Director of Joo Toon LLC. He graduated with an LL.B. from the University of Exeter in 2017 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2020. Before that he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management in 2013. His practice focuses on commercial law and civil disputes, with expertise in litigation and mediation across the firm's practice areas.

  • Passing off and trademark infringement involving a large multinational company ​

  • Family Justice Courts trial: sibling's dispute over a will that did not provide for him and other siblings ​

  • State Courts trial: defamation by a tutor against another tutor over social media statements ​

  • High Court trial: loss of investments made in properties in Brazil ​

​

  • Mediation before Senior Counsel: company against former directors and employees over misappropriation of funds ​

​

  • Family Court: personal protection order against a family member for domestic violence ​

​

  • State Courts trial: director and shareholder in a family company dispute over personal expenses offset against director's fees ​
